Jack West: Rest in Peace

"Fine architecture is quite something to behold: if it has beauty or power or both we immediately grasp and feel the spell, whether it be under construction or crumbling ruins."

Jack West AIA, one of the original Sarasota School architects died on October 24. Many of his fine works still adorn Sarasota's built environment, for which the community is certainly richer.

For anyone who wishes to understand more about the Sarasota School of Architecture, I highly reommend John Howey's book, "The Sarasota School of Architecture 1941 - 1966" published by the MIT Press. To further understand Jack West, I suggest his own book, "TLOAA" published by Fauve Publishing in Sarasota, Florida.
